The ties on my tie quilt are all stitched down and I’m ready for the next step. I’ll hold off on that until all my flowers are stitched and then Ruby and I can go into production on finishing the tops.
I spent a good part of the morning cleaning and rearranging furniture for the yarn swap. The organizer was coming early to help set up, but by the time he got here almost everything was done. It certainly helped having had the House Concerts here – I knew exactly what to get out for serving tea and coffee, as well as the necessities for goodies.
There were close to 30 people here and yarn was spread over every surface in the living room and kitchen. I made a big urn of coffee and there were a few treats, but people were really focused on the yarn. The free stuff got most of the attention. I was offering some free patterns, as well as a couple of bags of specialty wool and another box of patterns for sale. I sold one bag of wool and a lot of the free patterns went.
I tried very hard not to, but I picked up three balls of baby yarn and another ball of nice-looking yarn from the free table. I also bought two skeins of hand-dyed sock yarn from the event organizer – I paid too much but it was cheaper than the wool I’ve been buying. It is bright yellow so it may be headed for a grandchild.
All the left-over yarn, patterns and needles from the free table will go to one of the local schools who have recently started a knitting program. We also collected a large bag of goodies for the food bank.
I’ve got the living room back to normal, and we’re off to a party tonight. It is a bunch of musicians celebrating a fellow musician’s birthday. Everyone was asked to bring their instruments so I know the entertainment will be good!
