Bindings, labels and sleeves

I had great plans for the day but everything took longer to do than I anticipated. It always does and you’d think I’d know that by now. I started out by doing the quilting on my tree project. I used a star and loop pattern in free motion. I must confess though that I used a template for the star. Someday I may be able to doodle a star, but not yet.

When the quilting was done I had three items ready for binding. I had the binding cut by lunch so thought the afternoon would be a breeze. I realized I needed labels for the projects. I print the labels on my printer and today I decided that I would attach them right into the binding. That shouldn’t have been too hard, but it took a long time to get them cut to the right size and managing a hem on the sides that weren’t included in the binding. Then I remembered I needed sleeves. I’ve started putting sleeves on my projects just in case I want to use the projects for the Quilt Show. Most of the afternoon was gone before I finally got the binding stitched to the quilted piece.

I need to get some cards made before I can start sending off my parcels. I picked a new pattern from my card book, picked some fabric and started cutting and piecing. When it was all stitched I realized it was far too large – that math gets me every time!

I’m going to knit tonight. It is appropriate that I’m knitting mitts from Mum’s pattern – today is her birthday.
