Birthday party

I did a bit of sewing this morning. The Christmas idea is coming together well but I have to make another trip to the fabric shop. When the ladies said I needed 1.5 yards of fabric, I think they meant 1.5 meters. Many of the Guild members don’t purchase their fabric locally so are getting meters, while Lainey sells her fabric by the yard because of her on-line business in the States. I ended up being just a tiny bit short of fabric, but I have all the cutting done for the fabric I have. There are a couple of other “things” on my fabric list so another trip is in order.

Today is Margaret’s 90th birthday. I had hoped to take her out for lunch but she is still in hospital. This afternoon I stopped by the bakery and bought a couple of frosted Brownie Bites so we’d have a sweet for her party. I also stopped at McDonald’s and got a couple of coffees to go. We had a lovely visit and a nice little party in her room. She’s been getting calls all day from various nieces, nephews and friends. Although she told me, “I don’t want to even remember it’s my birthday” I think she was enjoying herself.

There has been a change of plan for Margaret. She will not be going into the assisted living space but will be going into the next higher level of care. She’s been told that she can stay in the hospital until a space comes open and I think she was pleased about that. No one was really happy about her living arrangements. She has no idea how long the wait list will be at the new place, but her niece is coming to town this week and I’m sure she will find out more about what is going on.

I need to get my gear packed up for the bee tomorrow. It’s project day and, although I didn’t see any samples, I’m ready to make something with a Christmas theme. I’ll do some more knitting tonight and, hopefully, get the scarf finished and maybe even one of the mitts.
