Well not exactly a fork, more a T. But first …
Not surprisingly I was up at my usual time this morning. Mary and Mag (an old friend who was acting as her roadie) didn’t leave until the noon ferry so they were able to sleep in a bit. Mary had used some Powell River soap at one of her previous stops on the tour and she wanted to find some to take home. The gallery where the soap usually sells is only “open by chance” on the weekend. I didn’t realize until later that the soap maker is also co-owner of the gallery.
Mary and Mag wanted to go down to the sea walk this morning so while they did that Pat and I got the furniture in the living room back in its proper spot. I found a phone number for the gallery and called to see if, by chance, they were open today. I was told they were in the process of moving and were closed until the middle of October. I knew of one shop where Mary might find some of the soap, but then I got a phone call saying if we didn’t mind seeing her product displayed in rubber bins we were welcome to come see “the soap lady” in her new location beneath the bowling alley. I thought that would be fine and arranged a time when we could be there.
After we picked the ladies up from their excursion on the sea walk we headed for the shop. We made it worth the owner’s time to open for us! We had enough time to stop at one other gallery before dropping them off at the ferry.
Today was the Cultural Diversity Fair at the Rec Center. There were several displays from several different cultures, and food from many more. As we wandered the displays we kept seeing people who were at the Concert or who had heard about the concert. When we got to the food section we decided we’d have to share the plates we bought or we’d never fit a taste of everything in. We had Korean, Japanese and Indian – all yummy!
We left the Rec Center and headed up the street past the hospital. When we got to the Stop sign we could either go left to the Garden Center (who were having their annual end-of-season Garage Sale) or right to the French Cultural Association (who were having a salmon barbecue as part of the Diversity Festival). It was a decision I left up to Pat.
Not unexpectedly we went left. We picked up six plant pots and one new plant, and then we stopped at the French Cultural Association on the way home! Either we were too early or too late because we didn’t see much of anything going on.
I had a relaxing afternoon. I worked a bit on my photos and started stitching the binding on one of my quilts. I got a lot of sock knitting done while we watched TV tonight.
