I had my last (I hope) physiotherapy appointment this morning. I have a different set of exercises to do now but he says the next time he sees me he hopes it is in the grocery store.
I played with Ruby for most of the day. I worked on yesterday’s pumpkin and I am oh-so close to being done. I was able to test out my zig-zag stitch for the appliqué, a little straight line quilting and, finally, some free-motion work. Everything went so well – not a broken needle or a bad word the whole time!
I thought I wanted a satin stitch for my appliqué, but after playing a bit it seems my satin stitch is more of a patterned stitch than a straight line. That’s okay because I used the zigzag option on my old machine too. I will play a bit more with the stitch length. I think I had it set too low because the lines around the fabric are pretty thick.
I had a small moment of frustration this afternoon when I needed to switch from free-motion to regular stitching. No matter what I did I couldn’t get the LCD display to show the correct foot and the stitch length seemed stuck at zero. Finally I figured out that I had lowered the feed dogs but hadn’t raised them. Once they were up all was well. Lowering feed dogs was not an option on my old machine.
Margaret got home from Vancouver on the late afternoon flight today. She sounds as good as ever but she can’t come to our Red Cross shift tomorrow “because she has to take it easy for the next couple of days”. I think I was a little afraid she would say she was ready to get back to work.
Movie night tonight (I’ll post my review tomorrow). As we were driving home there was a big gold crescent moon hovering just above the water and reflecting in it. What a beautiful sight.
