Although it was a nice day we decided not to go out to the music festival today. There wasn’t anyone I was interested in seeing or hearing, and Pat felt the same way. We have another chance to go tomorrow if we are in the mood for it.
I started my day putting binding on the second door hanger. I had intended to use some of the strips from my string quilt but changed my mind. When I looked at the scraps I had left I thought there would be enough to bind the actual string quilt so I picked something different for the door hanger.
I know I said I was going to clean and oil my machine before I started quilting my community quilt, but things were going so well I hated to stop the flow. I finished up the blocking lines before lunch and did a simple criss-cross on the rest of the quilt. Very simple, but it works.
While I took my lunch break Pat was listening to a David Letterman interview. I didn’t know it at the time, but Alec Baldwin was the interviewer. Since we were listening on-line we were able to hear another interview between Alec and Billy Joel. I am a Billy Joel fan and this interview was laugh-out-loud funny. If you have a chance, Google “Here’s The Thing” and listen to some of the clips.
I don’t usually work in my studio at night, but I wanted to listen to Randy Bachman so I thought I’d work on the binding on my community quilt. As expected, those bits of string strips were tough to stitch around the corners, but I managed. I’m not sure I like the effect as much as I thought I would, but it will be fine.
That pile of quilting has now become a whole stack of hand stitching, but it will all count for the quilting miles count.
