Pat had a friend who was passing through Powell River this morning so he made arrangements to meet her at the coffee shop on Marine. I hadn’t intended to go along, but Pat twisted my arm and bribed me with a cinnamon bun! We went out the front gate and crossed the street to Bud’s house on the corner. And right there was a huge calling card that could only have been left by a bear!
I finished quilting another door hanger today and then I decided to try something a bit different with the binding. I had a few blocks left from my string quilt so I cut them into strips and joined them together. The strips were all pretty small – just 10″ in length – so there were a lot of joins to make. I don’t have it stitched down yet but it looks pretty good. It will be heavier than usual but I think it will work okay.
We heard from Abe and Jo last night and arranged to get together today after they did a little exploring. They dropped by the house mid-afternoon and we had a great visit before we headed out to the Savory Bight for dinner. It was a beautiful evening and we sat outside on the deck. The evening sure cools off as soon as the sun sets.
There is a blue moon tonight and I’m going to try to catch sight of the bear. We have a few dogs in the area that should bark if they sense something. Don’t worry about me though – I’ll be watching from the upper deck!
