Pat and I headed out to the Farmer’s Market this morning. We hadn’t been for awhile and we needed to stock up on a few veggies. We didn’t really need to stock up on any bread, but we brought home lots. We didn’t think we’d be in time to get bread from our favourite vendor but when we got to the front of her line she still had an olive/rosemary left, and we usually get one of her sourdough breads. There was another vendor selling bread today so we tried a spinach/feta and a sun-dried tomato loaf from her booth.
Pat dropped me off at the fabric store and I picked up the material I wanted to try out on yesterday’s project. I ripped the piece apart and used this new fabric and I’m very happy with the results. It just needs the hand stitching done on the binding. I was on a roll so I attached the binding to my butterfly quilt. It too is ready to have the binding stitched down.
I thought about starting my new project, but decided to carry on with my finishing work. I stripped down the length of my community quilt at last week’s bee so today I cut and stitched on the borders. The mitered corners always give me a bit of a scare, but they turned out okay today. I’ll get this project sandwiched at the bee on Tuesday. I already have a quilting plan in mind – it involves straight stitching only; no free-motion!
The Guild is involved in a contest to see how many miles of quilting we can do between September 1st and the end of February. I can’t finish off this growing list of projects until after the first of September or they won’t count. I often don’t have much to show during the year so I’d better make these summer projects count.
Did I mention that we also got a peach pie from Grandma Rose when we were at the market? We’ll enjoy some of that later this evening when we aren’t so full from supper. Good thing I walked home from the fabric shop this morning.
I should have time tonight to finish another baby cap. Every time I finish one I think “just one more left”, but the wool in the basket just keeps on growing.
