It was such a treat to be stitching today on something I knew how to do. I finished the straight line stitching on the butterfly quilt, and then I got it trimmed and the pieces cut for the binding.
Before changing attachments I quilted a piece of material that I was using in a test project. I finished up the test project this afternoon but I think I can do it a bit better if I change one thing. It will mean another trip to the fabric store, but I really can’t imagine anything else that might tempt me. Let me rephrase that – lots will tempt me, but I think I can resist everything except what I need. If I can get this project sorted out to my liking I can see using it for a few occasions.
While I was bringing the clothes in off the line I noticed some very ripe blackberries among the roses so Pat and I picked a container full before dinner. We always say we’re going to get the blackberries clipped out of the rose garden, but every year we seem to wait until the berries are so close to ripe it would be a shame to lose them. Sometime this weekend I’d like to tackle the blackberries on a major scale. That involves climbing up the cement wall to the top of the fence and I have to be in the right mood. Between the blackberries and the roses, it is a prickly job.
I’ve been playing a bit tonight with the design of another project – what is it with me that I can’t find patterns for the things I want to do! Once I have the pattern sorted out I hope to start work on the piece tomorrow. This will be a one-of-a-kind project so I can make it up as I go along if necessary.
