Technology – hate it AND love it!

You may have noticed last night’s post was shorter than normal. When I went upstairs to write my Journal I couldn’t get my computer past the Apple logo. Clearly something was wrong. After a couple of reboot attempts I unplugged it and let it sit overnight. I hoped the computer elves would come in the night and fix it, but apparently they were busy elsewhere.

I worried about my computer most of the night – what would I lose if I couldn’t get it working? I plugged it in this morning and the results on startup were as bad as last night. It didn’t even come up in Safe Mode so I knew something was hooped. We are pretty sure that we’ll be able to restore my data from backups so at least I was feeling better about the whole deal.

I can be without my computer for a short while because I have my iPad, but I knew I needed a computer. Pat had a couple of old machines he said he could probably clear off for me to use. I always said my next machine would be an iMac so that is what I’m getting. When I placed the order it was scheduled to arrive next week, but I had an e-mail this afternoon – it has already shipped and should arrive on Friday!

I popped down to the bee this morning to take some pictures for the blog. On the way home I stopped and filled the car with gas. Before I was even home, my credit card people were calling to verify that the two purchases were legitimate. I guess if you are going to steal a credit card buying a computer and filling the get-away car are logical purchases!

Dayle and I spent most of the day on the back deck chatting and reading. We talked about doing some shopping but in the end decided a day at home was what we wanted. We’ll get to the shopping another time.

It was sunny most of the day but a lovely windstorm has come up tonight. I don’t think it will bring any rain (she says hopefully).
