There’s a nice breeze tonight

I spent the morning in my office clearing up some paperwork. I made a dent in the pile, but mostly I avoided writing a Guild report that should have been done in June.

I didn’t know when I signed on for the Membership Committee that there was a report involved. Of course I also didn’t know that the other member of the committee would be opting out at the start of the New Year. I don’t mind writing the report; I just don’t have anything to say. I could have kept some statistics so we could see how many people, on average, came to the meetings; I could have kept some membership stats to see how many people joined after we reduced our fees; I could have kept some stats to see how many people joined after we moved to our new location. Since I’m on the second year of a two-year stint I will know better for next time.

I also have a binder of information regarding the Merchant Mall for our Quilt Show next March. There are lots of form letters in the binder so I don’t think I’ll have too much trouble with it, but I want to make myself a timetable for when letters should be sent out, etc. so I can stay on top of it. As the time gets closer to the event I’ll be trying to finish projects so I will have something to add to the show.

I picked Margaret up at the usual time for our Red Cross shift. It was a quiet day, with only one return. Margaret had an appointment at the doctor after the shift, and then we had to go to the pharmacy for a prescription. She gets so flustered when she gets too much information at one time. She said today she would go home and write it all down and then I could check to see that it was right. Like my memory is any good!

My last stop for the day was the fabric store. I needed to get some binding material for my Bargello table topper, as well as some coloured threads for my appliqué. There was also a nice neutral shade on her $3.50 sale table so I picked up a yard of that for my stash. Then I got some extra needles and pins, and before I knew it I was heading out the door with a bag full of stuff.

I think I will spend a little time tonight seeing if I can get my machine to give me a nice satin stitch. If that doesn’t work out I’ll head to the deck to read.
