It was a quiet day at the bee. Actually it wasn’t quiet (as in no one chatting) but quiet as in only a few people were around. I know that some of the regulars are on vacation.
I would have liked to work on my “Christmas in July” theory but my Christmas project is pinned to my design wall and in too many pieces to move easily. I needed to embroider antennas on my butterflies so that was what I worked on today. I didn’t get them all done before it was time to go home, but I finished them off before supper. I have all the blocks pinned to my “portable” design wall (a flannel-backed tablecloth) and I finally feel like I’m making progress.
I was admiring the machine appliqué that one of the ladies had done on a quilt and lamented that although my machine had a zigzag stitch it didn’t have a satin stitch. Several ladies jumped on that comment with the reply that any machine that can do a zigzag can do a satin stitch – you just play around with the length of the stitch. I’ll give it a try because, if it works, it will make a couple of my projects much easier.
I’m going to spend the rest of the evening working on a couple of birthday cards and a set of coasters (for myself).
