I’m so proud

It was a really early start to the day. Breakfast was planned for six, but I heard Ivy shortly after five so I got up and started on lunches and breakfast. By the time six rolled around both girls were doing their vocal exercises and I was right in the middle of my own personal concert.

I delivered them to a rehearsal at seven and then picked them up shortly after eight to transport them to their first competition. It wasn’t until I was dropping them off that I was told the seats at the competition were free. I called Pat and told him I was going to stay and hear “my choir” sing. Today they were competing in the adult mixed choir event with four other choirs. They were the smallest in number, but I thought they were much better than the others. The winners won’t be announced until Friday though so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

The choir had a concert this afternoon and Margaret and I went to hear them. There were only two other choirs performing but, again, they were better by far. When they were singing one particular song (with very high notes) Margaret leaned over and said, “I think it is the little girl in the middle singing that.” She was right – it was Ivy hitting the high notes! The choir got a long standing ovation so they were a crowd favorite as well.

As Margaret and I were leaving the choirs were exiting the theater and even the other choirs clapped as “my choir” exited. I couldn’t have been happier for the girls, and I was so proud you’d have thought I had something to do with their success.
