Boosted and vaccinated

I had time this morning to put Anna’s centre star together. It doesn’t lay as flat as I would have liked; I currently have it pinned down and I’ll give it a good press and hope it improves. Between sewing sessions I’ve done four loads of laundry and three loads of drying – that will be my work for the day.

We signed up for the flu shot last week but because we were going to be on Texada we booked for today. We heard on the news that we didn’t need to wait for an invitation for the Covid booster – if you were eligible you could just walk in and get it. Pat had a notice that he was due for his booster as of November 1st but my last Covid booster was delayed because of my treatments and I didn’t get it until June. There was no problem with either of us getting the shot early. I’m hoping that means I’m double protected as my June booster is probably still active and now I have the latest one. I’m off to an event tomorrow and I want to be safe. I’m wearing a mask now when I go out but I’m not sure how to handle lunch at a table full of quilters.

I went up to the hospital after my shots to visit a quilting friend. She’s been in hospital for a couple of weeks and there was a notice in our Facebook group that she’d welcome visitors. I took her a collection of Block magazines thinking she might enjoy looking at them but she didn’t even want to see them; she says she doesn’t even have the energy to put her glasses on. I feel for her as I know what it is like to be totally “done in”.

The plan was for me to walk home and drop a book off at the library on my way past. I did that and was maybe halfway up the street home when Pat picked me up. He was on his way to the post office and thought he might meet me. I was glad of the ride as those Block magazines felt like bricks inside my backpack.

We were able to watch a ball game last night but we have to wait until Sunday for the next one. There aren’t any hockey games tonight that we are particularly interested in either. Saskatchewan has a football game so we’ll likely watch that after Pat has finished his open mic.

I’ll get back to Anna until it is time for me to start cooking supper.
