Home again

We came home today on the noon ferry. Pat finished the work for his new album and I ran out of anything interesting to do.

I took some Christmas cross stitch across, as well as my latest Baubles project. My needle broke when I was about halfway through the Christmas project. I was able to find another one that I was able to use to get the job done. I left my magnifier at home and without that or a good needle I didn’t even start my Baubles. I’ll get at it another time.

I had a few projects in the cabinet in my sewing room but when I took a good look at them I decided it was time to do some divesting. One partially completed project got packaged up and will go to the thrift shop. I know it will sell as I have purchased partially finished packages in the past. The other is a kit that I have no recollection of acquiring (or wanting to do) so it will also be a donation.

What I did managed to do was some rug hooking. I won a large wool rug hooking kit many years ago and had barely started it. I made quite a bit of progress on it and I know I want to finish it even though it may take me many more years. I also have an idea in mind for my spool knitting; Dad built the spool for it when I was probably eight and I’ve continued with it from time to time. The spool is cracking and I’m afraid if I try to continue it further it will break completely apart so I’ll finish it off, sew it together into a round (or oval) and use it as a table topper somewhere. I also managed to finish a couple of books so my time wasn’t completely wasted.

The weather was rainy so we didn’t get out for any walks; my exercise involved moving from chair to chair depending on what I was doing. It’s a lovely sunny day now but there is more rain in the forecast. I came home to three more dahlias from the garden and more blossoms on the plants. It has been a good year for them.

We have broken down and ordered SportsNet along with our TSN channel. Apparently SportsNet is carrying the World Series and all the hockey games we want to watch. TSN will have the curling, soccer and a few other sports we may or may not want to watch. Pat was able to upgrade our package so we won’t end up paying extra.

I’ll finish unpacking and maybe get a few more Anna stars done. I’m sewing next week with Stacia and Deloise and I don’t want to spend a third session on the same project (but I will if I have to).
