I’m set

I had my CPAP appointment this morning and I had Pat come along as I was afraid I wouldn’t understand how to operate the machine. The technician was really good and before we even talked about a machine she went through the results of the test I had done in February. I definitely have a mild case in three of the areas that they monitor but I am beyond the normal range. Seriously, they needed a test to know I wasn’t normal!

The machine is quite compact and most of it can be kept in one piece except for cleaning. When we got home from the appointment we got it set up in the bedroom and the distilled water stored in the bathroom. We did a test of how it will feel when I sleep and I think I’ll be okay. The best news was that with the type of mask I have I can breathe through either my nose or my mouth. I made notes as to how to put it on at night, how and what to remove if I get up to the bathroom in the night, and how to disconnect and turn the machine off in the morning. I’m sure it will become quite routine after a week or so but I’m a bit nervous for right now.

There is a lot of cleaning involved on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule. I’ll also receive some replacement equipment every year.

I wonder if I should go to bed early tonight while I still remember what I’m supposed to be doing? I also wonder if I don’t sleep well is it is because this isn’t working or because I’m nervous about it.

I’ll let you know tomorrow.
