A new job

Today was my first day back at the bee since our holiday. It was nice to see everyone and find out what they were working on. Some of the projects that were underway when I left are finished; many had new things started. I couldn’t decide what to take to work on.

I usually use my Tuesday sessions for my butterfly quilt. All the blocks are finished and I could have started cutting out the appliqué flowers, but I need a refresher on how to use the Steam a Seam so decided that project was out. I thought about taking my String Quilt to work on, but I didn’t feel like packing up my sewing machine. I could have taken my Cookie Tin Project but I wanted it to be a surprise at the wind-up party. What I ended up taking was my big appliqué project – I got a lot of stitching done on Block 11 (of 16).

One of the women was working on a Christmas Tree Skirt. She said that if she doesn’t start “Christmas in July” she never gets everything done. What a good idea. I think I’ll try that – I have a couple of projects that didn’t get finished in time for last Christmas. I also have several new projects planned so I may have to go with “Christmas from July to December”.

Our Guild’s Past President is in charge of the Quilt Show each year and she was at the bee looking for volunteers for her Committees. She has convinced me to take on the task of organizing the Merchant’s Mall. She assures me it is easy and hardly any work (I’ve heard that before). And if it is so easy, why was she having trouble filling the position? Too late now I guess!

After I got home from the bee I finished up the hand stitching on my Cookie Tin Exchange project. It started out a bit gloomy this morning but by the afternoon it had cleared and the house was quite warm. We had our own little wine and cheese party this afternoon so dinner was late. After dinner we went for a walk on the Willingdon Beach Trail. We are close to the longest day so we weren’t worried about it getting dark before we made it back.
