Too nice to be inside

Sunday, May 6, 2012

We invited our friends, Deb and Paul, over for coffee this morning. It was such a nice day that Pat got the chairs all set up on the side patio so we could be outside. Paul is just getting over a bad cold/lung infection though so he preferred to stay inside. I made a Rhubarb Cake from Mum’s recipe book (with rhubarb from our garden) but Paul hasn’t been eating and Deb is off dairy so the food didn’t go over as well I we had hoped.

I gave Deb her Sudoku quilt and she was very grateful. Although she started this Pay It Forward Challenge she seemed to be unsure of “the rules”. She thought at first that she had to give the quilt away, and then she couldn’t figure out why I was giving her something. She says she’s never had a quilt (so I guess she won’t be able to compare my quilting with anyone else’s)!

It was past noon when Deb and Paul left and Pat and I headed out immediately for the Garden Club’s plant sale. We got a few plants and a tree – Pat will be busy getting everything planted before we leave. We had to drive home with the tree on the floor of the front seat and the top sticking out the sunroof! It’s been quite awhile since I had to ride in the back seat.

After dropping off our purchases we went south of town to Skeeter Jack’s for lunch. It is so green and lush along the highway. I know it is only spring, but today felt like summer is coming.

When we got home I was tempted to sit out on the back deck and read, but I have a few more cards I need to get done before we leave. I eventually forced myself up to the studio and I have two tops done, and one needs the binding stitched down. I have an idea for the last card, but I need to do a bit more planning before I start sewing.

The Amazing Race ends tonight – I’ll be watching the full two-hour finale!
