I just finished watching a Home Routes concert featuring The Mavens – Shari Ulrich, Lynn Miles and Susan Crowe. It was the best online show I’ve seen since online shows became the norm.
Shari Ulrich has performed in Powell River several times with various groups. I first saw her perform at a house concert – not one we were hosting. I don’t remember if it was before or after we started hosting, but I do remember it was a lovely house (which sadly burned down a short while later) and a great show. Shari opened the show with her song, “These Lines”.
Pat brought The LYNNeS (Lynn Miles and Lynne Hanson) to Powell River for a show at Cranberry Hall. They both stayed at the house but Lynn Miles stayed with me an extra day while Lynne Hanson went across to Texada for a show. It is amazing how many “famous” people we have hosted over the years.
Although I’d heard of Susan Crowe I don’t recall having heard her music and I certainly never saw her perform. She has sung with Cindy Church (who also passed through our house) and I’ll be watching for more performances from Susan.
Today’s online show had some fun interactions between the performers; they all have a great sense of humour. When artists are able to perform together again I will watch for The Mavens in concert. Dare I hope they might come to Powell River?
Tonight is Cranberry Hall’s Coffee House. It is an all-women show and I’m looking forward to it. I thought I was going to get away without doing any work but this morning I got an e-mail asking if I would handle a give-away draw. Not too onerous but it means I need to be at my computer and we can’t watch it on the TV.
I’m almost finished Pat’s accounting and I have an afghan finished. Well not quite finished as when I brought it upstairs I noticed a knot I hadn’t woven in. I have another one done as well but it still needs the knots to be woven in, and there are a lot of them.
