Covid-19 case numbers in BC are exploding in spite of the vaccination rollout; 700+ yesterday and 800 today, the highest since January.
In January when the numbers were high we were placed under rigorous restrictions – no gatherings indoors or out. But now, when the cases are just as high, some of the restrictions have been lifted. Pat suggested that perhaps it is because they know people won’t follow the orders anyway so this gives just a little bit more freedom. They have also doubled the fines for ignoring the Public Health Order but I don’t think they have managed to collect much money from the tickets they have already issued.
With my vaccination date quickly approaching I wasn’t really planning on doing much of anything differently but until the numbers have decreased dramatically I think I’ll stick to only the essentials – the library, the post office, the quilt shop, the doctor (if necessary) and the pharmacy. My haircut can wait and so far I’ve managed to get everything else delivered to my door.
