Community Quilts – Day Two

Sunday, April 1, 2012

It was a longer day today, but I got 20 blocks finished. I worked very quietly in the corner yesterday, but some of the ladies must have been watching because today they came with lots of strings from their own collections. It was such fun working with new fabrics and mixing it in with the pieces I had in my collection. At the end of the day I piled it all into my box as I think I’ll make more of these string quilts. They go together quickly and I love the idea that they are made from scraps.

When I got home I trimmed up the new blocks because I was anxious to get them laid out to see if I had enough for a quilt – I had more than enough. With a border added it will be slightly larger than 60” x 60”. I’m sure the layout will be different than this photo, but it gives you an idea of what it will look like.
