Beer, dinner and a show

I did some cleaning this morning before I got started on my crafting. Today was an appliqué day and I had time, before lunch, to get the pieces for block eleven placed. Then I spent the afternoon doing a bit more cleaning and finishing the stitching on block nine. The progress is slow, but there is progress!

We had tickets for another show tonight. The Manzanita Restaurant (now Manzanita on the Move) was one of our favorites but it closed in the fall. The owner was doing a dinner prior to a show by Joel Fafard. One of our local musicians, Devon Hanley, was the opening act. I’ve never met Devon but our paths have crossed. She works at the library and she was the woman in charge of the Solutions for Seniors program that matched me with Margaret. I understand the program no longer exists, but I’ll always be glad I got my match before they folded.

For several months we have been anticipating the first samples from our new Townsite Brewery. They delivered their first keg of beer to the local bar in the Townsite on Saturday and we had our first taste samples tonight before dinner. We sampled their Tin Hat (an IPA) and Zunga (a blonde ale) – I preferred the Zunga.

Joel Fafard, who is a transplanted Saskatchewan boy, was very good but neither Pat nor I were feeling too perky so we left after the first set. I stopped taking the cold medication today and I’ve had a sinus headache all day. I’m sure the night out and the beer didn’t do me any good but it was fun!
