Tuesday, May 26, 2020 (Day 71)

Today has been a nightmare. I was trying to do some free-motion quilting on my Guild challenge and nothing went right. I should have known it wasn’t going to be a good day when I broke a needle halfway through my warm-up. But I carried on. I broke more needles and my thread broke; new needles, new thread didn’t help. By noon I realized that at the rate I was going (almost a third of the way done) I wasn’t going to have enough needles to finish the job.

I decided to take out all the quilting I had done and find a way to do some straight line stitching. While ripping out the stitching it seemed like I had done way more than almost a third.

So it took me all morning to do the quilting and all afternoon to rip it out. If it hadn’t been for my daily block (and it was probably the easiest one in the calendar) I wouldn’t have accomplished anything.
