For the second week in a row I started my Sunday by ripping apart seams on my quilted jacket. I didn’t like the way the binding looked around the pockets and, after talking with a fellow quilter and jacket maker, we came up with another way to manage it. By lunch I had the pockets re-sewn and was ready to tackle the binding.
I spent most of the afternoon in my chair by the window watching the comings and goings on the water. I had all the binding stitched down before the afternoon ferry arrived, and we were outside taking this photograph when the afternoon plane came in.
Would I make this particular project again? Never. I did like the idea though of making your own quilted fabric and I can imagine some cute ideas with kids fabrics and maybe a vest pattern. I loved the sample jacket that the instructor made, but my challenge is picking the right colors. I guess I should have copied her colors exactly or asked her to come help me pick out colors. I think I’ll make use of the jacket – if only so that it wears out or falls apart and I can set it aside!
It is lovely to be able to erase one more project off the list. There is a lot of cleaning up to do in my studio and craft room. I think I’ll even be forced to get out the vacuum cleaner. Once that is done I’ll get back to my Easter project.
