Week 2 – Day Two

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Two things caught my attention today in all the news about the pandemic. Prime Minister Trudeau, as he should, thanked all the front line workers for everything they are doing. I had to rant a little about how Kathryn is one of those front-line workers but has had steady increases to her licence fee, hasn’t had a wage increase in seven years, and is currently working without a contract. I suspect there are many more front-line workers who are in a similar position.

The second thing that caught my attention was a discussion on CBC about the stress that could be caused by feeling you need to do something productive during your self-isolation. I hadn’t thought about that but it is a little true for myself. I always have a plan for my day and it usually means I have one or two things that I hope to strike off my to-do list at the end of it. Now that a lot of my “outside” tasks are curtailed I still find myself saying to myself, “You should get this (or that) done”. I don’t think it is particularly stressing me out, but it is good to know that we shouldn’t be putting extra pressure on ourselves.

So that being said, here is my block for the day (I didn’t stress over getting it done), and now I’m going read my book.
