Decisions

For about a month, every time I drive into the carport my first thought is, “I’ve got to get those blackberries out of the roses”. Well today was the day; even though I woke up with a headache I was out the door by nine.

It took me until eleven to get all the blackberries and bindweed pulled and clipped from the roses. I should have done a bit of research into pruning roses as it might have been a good time to do it. Clearing out the rose bed involves climbing the retaining walls so I don’t like to do it too often.

While I took a coffee break my mind was thinking, “I should go and get a new broom. And while I’m out I could go get a McFlurry in honour of Dad’s birthday”. The broom I currently use in the yard was left by the previous owners and I’m sure it was missed on their last trip to the dump. It works, but not well and I thought I deserved a new one. But if I went out I’d have to go in my shredded shirt (those blackberries and roses make a mess of clothing) and my less-than-great jeans and garden shoes or else get cleaned up. But if I got cleaned up I knew it would be hard to go back to work once I got home. So I decided to stay home and get the broom another day.

I took a short break for a late lunch and was back out again until 3:30. As I lay on the couch recuperating I thought, “I could go and get the McFlurry after my shower”. But if I go out I’ll have to put on some clothes and I was sort of thinking maybe I could put on my pyjamas. But there is a movie I’d like to see tonight so getting dressed and getting a McFlurry might be a good idea.

The jury is still out on that decision.
