This book came in the December bag from my Guild Secret Pal. I’d never heard of the author but his award puts him in the same category as Henning Mankell, Jo Nesbø and Stieg Larsson – all authors I’ve enjoyed.

Carl Mørck has been promoted after a shooting incident left one of his partners dead and another permanently disabled. His “promotion” puts him alone in the basement of the building as head of Department Q tasked with solving cold cases.

I liked the method used to tell the story. In most cases we had one chapter about the investigation into the cold case followed by a chapter about the case Carl is investigating.
