Oops (in so many ways)

Written on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 (neglected to post it until February 8th)

We were a bit late to get going this morning and it was close to 9:30 before we left the house. Pat was dropping me at the clubhouse for the sewing bee and then heading off for coffee. When we got to the mobile home park there was no activity at the clubhouse. It dawned on me then that we meet there on the second Tuesday, and today was only the first Tuesday of the month. That made me even later getting to the Seniors’ Center and at my stitching.

We are getting a much better turnout at our bees now that we have moved. There were three new ladies sewing today, and one other woman who was back for the second week in a row. I didn’t want to reconfigure my sewing machine (nor did I want to quilt in public) so I made today my applique day. As usual, my project got lots of comments – mainly about how much patience I must have!

I shared a table with a woman who was also doing some handwork. She was making fabric postcards, but on a scale that is way beyond what I’ve been doing. She said a friend saw some landscape postcards at a quilt show in Saskatoon (Deloise’s show maybe) and she was trying to make some. They were absolutely beautiful. One was a clear blue sky and a rail fence with flowers and grass in the foreground; another was a field of canola with the same blue sky. Truly works of art.

Marlene, one of the regulars, was working on a kit she won at Hands Across the Water (donated by our local fabric shop). It used a gorgeous Japanese print as the center and then a border made up of several other Japanese prints.

I’m heading off now for a redo on a project I thought was finished. I made Madison a shrug and I thought it looked a bit odd when I sent it off (and that’s why I didn’t post any photos). It wasn’t until I was putting the pattern away that I noticed a page three to the pattern that I had missed completely. Elizabeth sent it back to me so I’ll get it finished and sent back right away.
