The show last night was excellent, although I didn’t make as much money on the concession as I would have liked. It seemed to be busy even during the intermission but in the end it was the poorest concession (out of three) that we’ve had. We have gone from asking for donations for the coffee, tea and goodies to charging individual prices. I think for the next show I’ll go back to asking for donations. Although I have lots of goodies left from the sale, the loaves and cake were all cut into so I don’t feel they can be used again next weekend. I’ll revamp my menu and serve a bundt cake (which has more slices than a loaf), a couple of kinds of cookies, and (by requests) butter tarts and Rice Krispie squares.
I was pleased with my haircut yesterday afternoon. I don’t think a hairdresser has ever gone through all the options with me before even getting me to the sink. I generally wash my hair and go but I may try to be a bit more professional about it, at least for awhile. Michelle spent lots of time (after I thought she was done) showing me how to use the blow drier and flat iron; who knew it made a difference to your hair style whether you blew it dry with your head upside down or right side up! I even bought some “product”.
I had some running around to do today and Pat decided to come with me. Mostly I wanted to get a deposit into the bank as tomorrow is our year-end at the Hall. The Advance Polls were open today so we both voted; regular voting day is Tuesday and I wasn’t going to let an election interrupt my sewing bee. We decided not to go up to the first Farmer’s Market of the season as it was pouring rain; I wanted to see if I could get some rhubarb. I can see Bud’s (or what used to be Bud’s) rhubarb from the deck and it looks more than ready. I don’t think there is anyone in the house at the moment but if I got caught stealing rhubarb I’d have a hard time proving that Bud always gave it to me. Since it was rainy we wandered through the Home and Garden Show; we entered every draw we saw so maybe one of us will win something. We stopped for lunch on the way home; my fortune cookie suggested I’d soon have important news about my job so maybe we’ll get a new Board member to take over the Treasurer’s job or a new Guild member to take over the Facebook and blog duties.
I spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for the Cranberry Hall Board meeting on Wednesday, as well as doing a bit of Guild business. I have some hand stitching I may get to this afternoon, or I may decide to nap until supper.
