Monday, January 30, 2012 (Happy Birthday Diane)
It was my turn for the BOND lunch today. I had a call earlier in the week that we would be doing the lunch at Family Place in the mall. There is a lovely drop-in center in the middle of the mall and although I’ve walked by it many times I’d never been inside. When the Mum’s and babies graduate from the BOND program, they are encouraged to start dropping in at Family Place to meet other Mums and use the resources of the center.
I wasn’t even sure they had a kitchen, but after getting the groceries I went in the back door and it opened into a very tiny kitchen. It may be a bit smaller than the kitchen at the hospital, but it is laid out quite differently so it is hard to say for sure. They had two big stainless steel sinks, so that made washing fruits and vegetables a little easier. There wasn’t much counter space, but what counter there was wasn’t divided by a stove in the middle. One thing that didn’t work so well was after I got the plates prepared there wasn’t a spot to put them.
We don’t have lunch until one, but there was another group in Family Place until noon. Our group starts arriving about that time. I saw a few of the older BOND babies in the group that met before ours – it was nice to see how they are growing up!
We walked up to the Church for pasta dinner tonight. It is always nice on a BOND day to have dinner prepared for me. Actually Pat prepares dinner for me almost every night, but it was nice not to have to do any cleanup.
I’m still stuck (in my head) about the quilting. So what to do at the bee tomorrow? I don’t like to quilt in public, but I don’t want to reconfigure my machine for piecing. I think I’ll do the cutting for a couple of new projects!
