Hands Across the Water

In 2019 our Guild was set to host the annual Hands Across the Water event where Guilds from the Island and the Peninsula are invited for lunch, visiting, shopping and just a lot of fun. Due to Covid we weren’t able to host in 2019 so we invited everyone to join us this year. We had an excellent turn-out and it was a fun afternoon.

There were five vendors represented and I made purchases at two of them. The quilt shop that closed recently had one metre cuts of fabric selling for $10 each. I wanted three fabrics for a 3-yard quilt and although I purchased three fabrics I wasn’t too happy with one of them. It was a fabric I’ve used before though and if it doesn’t work in the quilt I don’t mind having it in my stash. The woman sitting beside me at the table purchased some fabric that I really liked so I made a second trip to the table and picked up two more metres. Added to that were some polka dot fabrics that may work for my chicken project.

There were door prizes from each of the vendors and there was a raffle for a quilt. The second prize in the raffle was a lovely quilt stand and most people, including me, were hoping to come in second. The table centrepieces as well as the table toppers on each table were given away in a draw and there were about a dozen more table toppers that were drawn for.

I didn’t win anything, but I had a good time!
