I enjoyed this book more than the first of the series, but not enough to want to read any further unless the third book drops in my lap as these first two did.

Lord John, of course, is the main character but there are a few more familiar characters from the Outlander series. The story includes Percy Wainwright, who plays a small role in the Outlander books. This book fills in the back story between the two characters.
