Another hot one

We’ve had another hot day here and it is going to get worse over the next couple of days. I usually like to work in the front yard in the morning as it is a bit cooler but there was a breeze coming in the back door and I didn’t want to close the door so I worked in the driveway instead. That meant I was out in the sun almost all morning and I was certainly dragged out by the time I finished.

When Pat asked me at lunch what I was going to work on this afternoon I said I had to finish my cross stitch-along. He wondered if that didn’t hurt my wrists more than quilting or piecing and I hadn’t really thought about it. Both my hands and wrists were already sore so I knew I wouldn’t be quilting because even without the yard work that bothers my hands.

I really wanted to keep up to date with the stitch-along so I finished this week’s pattern. I notice I made a small error in one of the patterns from a couple of weeks ago so I’ll have to figure out how much trouble it is going to be to fix it.

Piecing is probably the least hurtful for my wrists and hands so how lucky was it that I had another mystery quilt clue to put together. I pieced sixty small blocks; now they need to be pressed, measured and maybe trimmed. Both the pressing and trimming are going to hurt and standing that long is going to set my back off. It is too hot for the iron this afternoon so I’ll put all that off for another day.

It’s sad to have so many aches and pains but I like seeing the yard tidy and, if you don’t look too closely, weed-free.
