Extra sewing time

Since we had our board meeting last night there was no need for me to drop by the Hall today to check for mail. I have to go out tomorrow so I didn’t have many errands to do today either. I say “many” because I planned to drop my pillow at the SPCA but I was parked in the driveway before I remembered. I’ll add that to my errands for tomorrow. But I was among the last stitchers to leave today – that doesn’t happen often.

I got my two blocks of the month done for the Guild – one for December and one for January. I made the December block but used the wrong colours so I took it apart, used a portion of it and got it done the right way. The parts I had to remove became two smaller blocks that I’ll keep on hand for something. We have a class coming up on using orphan blocks and I certainly have more than a few of those. Orphan blocks usually mean blocks left over from a larger quilt; in my case it means blocks I messed up on and had to start over!

I hoped to get cards done today in the order that I needed them. I’ve had the first one pulled out since summer as it was originally intended for a September birthday. Since all the fabrics were in a bag I assumed I had everything I needed but I guess I needed one of the fabrics for something else so I wasn’t able to go any further with it. Fortunately I had a couple more cards that I could work on and one of them is finished.

I’ve been enjoying my evening knitting project. The yarn is uneven and unusual so I’m just using a garter stitch and letting the texture of the yarn make an interesting pattern. It will be reversible too!
