Apparently our phone is out. It didn’t ring last night but that isn’t unusual except that Pat and I usually talk in the evening when he is on Texada. We had chatted electronically during the day so I didn’t think much about it. When I went to bed last night I checked again for messages and Pat had been trying to contact me.
This morning I began the long process of logging a call with Telus. After about ten minutes of verifying my account they told me that it was handled by another section of their business so I had to start all over again with someone new. There were additional questions regarding the account but I had Pat on another Chat call so was able to get some answers. Basically after probably twenty minutes, in which nothing was done, I was told that the earliest a technician could come was Friday morning at eleven.
I pleaded that I didn’t have a cell phone as an alternate, I was a senior and if I had an emergency I wouldn’t be able to dial 911. All that got me was a promise to escalate the call and a “please be careful until we get the problem resolved”. I was supposed to hear back from someone about a better time, but so far I am still waiting.
I’m a little like Dad in that I don’t really like the phone and I don’t really miss it. However, there were several things I wanted to do today that can’t be done because I’m sitting here waiting for something to happen. I have a feeling that I’m going to be waiting until that Friday at eleven appointment comes around.
