Winter weather

Winter arrived early this year and my knitting lagged behind. I was able to get these items sent along to Calgary with their Hallowe’en package. I’m not certain who will wear what, or maybe they will mix them all up between them.

oct-25-1The green scarf used the left-over yarn from the sweater I made for Taylor. The pattern shows up better in the photo than it does in real life; I guess it needs some distance.

The blue toque is one of three sizes I made. The first one I made was too small and will be passed to the Salvation Army for their Christmas packages. After making one that I thought was the right size I made a third one; Pat says it looks good on me but I’m not so sure. If we don’t get some sunny and cool days between now and December I’ll pass it along to the Salvation Army as well.

The headband was an experiment that may or may not have worked out. I wasn’t sure what length to make it; it might be too large and will fall right off their heads. It seems a bit wide as well but it is knit using a seed stitch so easily altered.

UPDATE – November 9, 2016

mitts1-1The toque was a little small for Gavin so I’ve sent him the one I made for me; I don’t really need it in our weather.

Madison got the headband; I’ll make another a little smaller Emma.

Emma took the scarf and it fit just fine!
