I think I’m getting better. I slathered Vicks VapoRub on before I went to bed last night and, although I had to take some Fishermen’s Friends in the night, I haven’t been coughing so much today. Sometimes the “old” remedies are the best. And I’ve had enough energy to get a few things done.
I’ve spent the better part of the past three days working on Cranberry Hall things. I got my signing authority in place at the bank today – it took two trips but at least it is done. Some of the information the first person I talked to needed didn’t appear to matter to the second person I talked to. I guess I’ll wait and see if any cheques come back. I doubt they will though as we are supposed to have two people sign cheques and I noticed for May (when I wasn’t in charge) a couple of cheques went through with only one signature. I had a couple of payments to drop off locally and some envelopes to get in the mail. We’ve had the gardener here so I paid him but then had to go to the bank to get more cash for my trip.
I put some cards in the mail today but they may arrive early. I saw a post on one of my cross stitch groups that there could be postal action as early as July 2nd. I didn’t even know we were expecting postal action! The two cards I have for the middle of the month can be hand delivered and I’ll hope the action is over before the ones due at the end of the month need to be sent.
Since the gardener had been here and did the edging on the lawn and around the fence I decided to cut the grass in the yard and on the boulevard. We’ve had a lot of rain over the past few days but Pat thought it would be dry enough to cut. It was and it looks good. The only problem I had was that I put on my rubber boots without wearing any socks and they were very hard to get off. While I struggled with them Pat mixed me a drink.
He asked me if I wanted some tea and I said I’d have some of the iced tea I have in the fridge. When he said we had ice cubes I opted for a gin and tonic – almost. We have some soda water (kind of like Perrier); I think Pat may have gone overboard on the amount of lemon juice he added (he keeps telling me the Vitamin C will cure me). I’ve been sipping at it for an hour though and I haven’t coughed once so we may be on to something!
I think I’ll get some more paper shredding done this afternoon so I can do a clean up tomorrow before leaving for Saskatoon.
