I’ve been homeĀ almost a week but I’m having a hard time getting back on schedule. Monday was the first day that I made it through to bedtime without a nap, although I did have a bit of a lay-down in the afternoon. Finally, I thought, I’m back into the swing of things.
I packed up a few projects to take to the bee on Tuesday – a couple of cards that needed to be done from my Splendid Sampler collection, and a few Farmer’s Wife blocks just in case I had time. I had everything packed in the car and was waiting for Carola to walk up the hill. When I saw her coming I started the car – well not exactly. It wouldn’t turn over. Pat and I thought maybe it was the starter because it was making a clicking sound but when I talked to the garage he thought it might be the solenoids. We have roadside assistance so we called for a tow and were advised it would be 60 to 90 minutes before they arrived. Carola wandered back down the hill and eventually someone came from the bee to pick her up.
When the tow truck driver arrived he tried to start the car and, with a battery boost, he got it going. He said the battery probably needed to be replaced; I was able to leave it running for awhile to charge the battery and then I drove it up to the garage. By that time it was noon and I had pretty much lost all of my (limited) ambition. On top of everything I was coming down with a cold – sore throat, cough and generally feeling lousy.
I slept well last night and, although I still have all the symptoms, I have a bit of energy today. I spent most of the morning getting papers ready for our Cranberry Hall Board meeting. The more I see of the books from otherĀ organizations the more I realize how well our Guild is run! My car was ready just before lunch so Pat drove me to pick it up and on the way home he dropped his truck off at another garage for some repair work. The owner of the garage I go to is the husband of the woman who runs the fabric shop – is it wrong that I spend more at her shop than at his?
I’ve got the last of my July cards ready for binding so hopefully I can get them done this afternoon before the meeting.
