I mentioned early in the month that one of the bloggers I follow suggested purchasing one pattern a week for the month of May. The idea was to support all the designers that provide free tutorials and patterns that we download from the web. I get many patterns this way and thought it was worth supporting.
My first pattern purchase was one I bookmarked in Craftsy. Diane’s favourite flower was the daffodil and I have several bulbs in my garden that were a gift from her. I spoke to Brian and he said there would be room to hang it in their home.
Christy gave me a gift card for Mother’s Day and it just so happened that I had a quilting book on my Wish List. It says “Amazingly Simple” – I hope isn’t false advertising!
I think the idea of May is for Makers was for quilting patterns but I’ve joined a very active Facebook group for cross stitching. One of their challenges is a project to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. I had a couple of patterns selected that I was wavering between. I was able to get this one through a Canadian supplier so it was my purchase.
I don’t want to show you a photo of the pattern I purchased on week four, but this is some of the fabric I’ve picked to use in it.
My last purchase wasn’t from a quilt designer or even a needlework designer but I think it is important to support our local quilt shop.
I’ve done my best to support the May is for Makers challenge. Keep in mind that the idea was to purchase, not necessarily complete!
