Today is supposed to be my day for my Farmer’s Wife Sampler but I had a couple of cards and a gift that needed some quilting done. One of the cards needs to go into the mail on Monday and the gift needs to be done for Tuesday so I decided I’d start my day with that.
I was just finishing up putting the binding on my gift when Pat called me down to help hang one of my quilts. We’ve started to put my quilts up with a rod and clips; it will be much easier to change the quilts around or put up new ones when the spirit moves me. At the moment have any extra quilts that don’t have a home but I guess it is good to be prepared!
By the time the quilt was hung we were both hungry so I told Pat I’d buy him lunch. There is a new (to us) Fish and Chips spot in town so we decided to try it out. We won’t go often, but if we are in the mood it is the best we’ve found up to now.
When we got home I got back to my binding. That’s when things went horribly wrong. I joined the last bit of binding, trimmed it off and moved to my ironing board to press it into place. I did something wrong and the binding was twisted and needed to come off. I thought I had fixed it but the second time around I still didn’t have it right. I ended up taking the binding off the entire side, joining another piece in and then redoing the stitching. I’ll leave the hand sewing until Monday when I may be happier to see the piece again.
As the day was almost done at this point I decided to spend the rest of the afternoon tidying up in my sewing room. I cut up my scraps, I put away fabric, I shredded paper and then I vacuumed. I’ll start fresh tomorrow and get to work on some Farmer’s Wife blocks.
