Struggling for balance

Last night I kept thinking about ways I might be able to get more projects finished, if only so I could start some new ones! I’ve come up with a plan that may help me. I’m making (or at least getting the pattern for) two Splendid Sampler blocks a week as well as making several cards throughout the month. What if I used my Splendid Sampler blocks as cards? I signed up for the quilt-along because it involved several different designers and several different techniques but I really don’t need another large sampler quilt. There will be a hundred Splendid Sampler blocks over the course of the quilt-along; I make just over 50 cards a year so I’d have almost two year’s worth of cards done by the end!

I had three cards waiting to be quilted so I finished those up this morning. I had three dog pillows waiting to be stitched closed so I took care of that. We’ll be near the SPCA tomorrow for quilting so I can drop them off; it clears out some space in the room for my ukulele setup.

After lunch I went back to my cross stitching project. The plan is to get done in the morning what I need to get done and work on finishing up the cross stitch in whatever part of the day is left. I get my knitting and crocheting projects done in the evenings so no need to squeeze them into the mix. On Friday I get a new instalment of another quilt-along so I will use that day to make individual blocks. If I have a stretch of days where I stay home (rarely, I know) I will work on sandwiching and quilting some of the tops I have stacked and waiting.

I can hear you laughing now! Yes, I know this plan will last maybe a week, but I keep trying.
