This is the latest block in my Splendid Sampler series. It looks so simple but I had a lot of trouble with it; totally my own fault. When I sewed the four HSTs together I had one facing the wrong way. I saw flying geese in the pattern and dove right in, not reading the pattern thoroughly enough to know that the colour on the right side of the flying goose was important. Lesson learned – make sure to lay it all out on the design board before stitching. Oh yes, and read the pattern.
I found another quilt-along that I’m going to start; I’m already ten blocks behind so I don’t feel obligated to keep up with the sewing as long as I download each pattern as they become available. I’m calling it my “Block Every Now and Again” project and I’m including my grandkids in the fun; they will be the recipients of the blocks.
It is a lovely day here today – a bit breezy but lots of sun. We are going out to The Laughing Oyster, near Lund, for dinner tonight. They are offering a turkey/ham/seafood buffet for Easter. They will have music by a musician from town that we like but don’t get to hear very often. Unless I can find a way around it, we’ll be stopping in at Cranberry Hall after dinner for their monthly coffee house.
