Slow day

Saturday, March 26, 2016

After all the excitement of yesterday I’m having a much slower day today.

I worked hard yesterday in spite of the excitement. I made Hot Cross Buns but I was clearly not paying attention when I did that. I use my bread machine to mix the dough; liquids in first, then dry ingredients, then yeast. I already had my dry ingredients added before I saw the two eggs still sitting on the counter so I dug through some of the flour and added them. I had everything in the mixer and the machine turned on when I realized I had forgotten to add the yeast. Surprisingly they turned out just fine.

As they were coming out of the oven a friend called. When he heard there were fresh Hot Cross Buns he and his wife invited themselves for coffee. I didn’t mind, and I sent them home with a few to enjoy over the weekend.

I was tired at the end of the day and slept until nine this morning – that doesn’t happen often. I managed to finish up another Farmer’s Wife block and did some measuring for the quilt I’m going to repair. I’ve started quilting a miniature; if the Mini Meez group approve this will go into a basket we are preparing for ourĀ fall event.

I need to get back to my hand quilting this evening, although I’d rather be working on my knitting project.
