The movie based on this book, Carol, will be shown as part of our Cinematheque series later this Spring but I got a head start on it.

The story moves slowly but letting it play out at its own speed had its rewards. The book, written in 1953, was written under a pseudonym because of its homosexual theme; without doubt it was way ahead of the times. I’m so happy to live in an atmosphere (for the most part) where the love between these two women doesn’t have to be hidden or considered shameful.

I’m really looking forward to the movie.
