Thursday, March 17, 2016 – Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

We had lots of advanced warning that today was the day BC Hydro planned an upgrade to their system that would leave us without power from 8 AM to 6 PM. Pat was up early enough to get some water boiled and saved for coffee; I got up just a few minutes before it was lights out!

We hadn’t had breakfast so we went out looking for something that was open and not affected by the power outage. After that we were just killing time until Pat had an eye appointment mid-morning. After breakfast we did some birthday shopping and then headed to his appointment just a bit early. It was a beautiful day out but after Pat had drops in his eyes and his examination we came straight home, closed the curtains and tried to stay warm.

It was lucky for us (maybe some of my Irish luck) that today was the matinee for our Cinematheque movie. When we got home around four the power had been restored and we were able to turn all our electronics back on again (and get all our clocks reset).

I’ll play a bit of ukulele before supper and I’ll be hand quilting tonight.
