I was in a recycling mood today – does that count as my hour of de-cluttering?
I spent the morning catching up on some paperwork – accounting, Guild updates and prep for the next Guild meeting which I am going to miss because of a House Concert. After lunch I made trips to the bottle depot, the general recycling depot and I did a bit of shopping. I didn’t make much money from my bottles, but there was enough for a couple of garbage tags and it cleared out some space in the laundry room. The trunk of my car was full of items for the recycling depot; I also filled up several extra bags this morning. I don’t get any money for my effort but I like to think I’m making the planet a bit greener. Every time I drop things off I learn about more things that can and can’t be recycled.
I got my new glasses yesterday so I recycled my oldest pair. Actually I dropped off two pair because I’d been carrying one pair around in my purse for months after cleaning up some of my dresser drawers. I used to take them to the drug store but they no longer take them; the Iris store in the mall were glad to have them so I didn’t need to make an extra stop for them. I had a letter to drop in the mail and there were a few things I needed to pick up at Walmart. Walmart are now charging for bags – I knew that but forgot to take my reusable bags with me – but everything I purchased was simple enough to throw directly into a cart and from there directly into my car.
I did a bit of cleaning in preparation for our next sets of guests; we have entertainers coming for a show on Sunday and then another House Concert next Thursday. If I do a good job of cleaning for the first there shouldn’t be too much to do for the second show!
Our Cinematheque series starts tonight so we’re off to the movies. Hopefully there is still time to do some ukulele practicing and maybe even a bit more de-cluttering.
