In and Out

I spent the morning working on my paperwork. I did a bit of my accounting, a bit of Pat’s accounting, some web updates, and I cleaned out my e-mail Inbox. When I clean out my mail there are always lots of links I need to follow to download the free patterns that come my way through the blogs I read. I’m not finding my new operating system as user-friendly when it comes to saving these documents. I suspect I’m doing something wrong, but they have definitely made a change not to my liking.

After lunch I headed out the door to run a few errands. My first stop was the library to return a book; I’m no further ahead as I picked up two books that I had placed a hold on and I picked a third one up from the shelf. It worked okay to be reading two books at a time this past week so I’ll try that again. Only one of the three books is a short-term loan so I’ll get started on that one. As I read more and more of my “regular” book it is starting to feel familiar, although I couldn’t tell you how it ends. When I added it to Goodreads it said that I had already read the book and “enjoyed every page”. I don’t have the book listed on my website but, because I didn’t remember anything about it, I’m rereading it.

From the library I went to the dollar store and then Walmart. I had a few things to pick up at Walmart but the most exciting thing was that I bought two curtain rods with clips for hanging some of my quilts on. If they hang as easy as the instructions say (and as easy as Ray made it seem when he hung Elizabeth’s) I think I’ll be back to buy more. The card Elizabeth gave me for Christmas is most welcome!

Next stop was Safeway for a few groceries. It doesn’t matter what time of day I go to Safeway there is one particular clerk I run into all the time and he likes to chat. We said a quick greeting while I was in the aisle looking for brown beans and again when I was on my way to the produce department. He asked if he could help me find anything and I jokingly asked if he knew where I might find a heart cookie cutter (neither the dollar store nor Walmart had them); he told me to carry on with my shopping and he would find me. I made it through the cereal aisle (why can I not buy anything but a huge box of Rice Krispies unless I want either gluten free, whole wheat, Christmas or vanilla flavoured?) and he found me again, with the cookie cutters, as I moved on to the dairy section.

On my way to Safeway my gas light came on so I stopped at Chevron for gas because it is right beside the grocery store. I planned to put only $50 in the tank but the terminal never asked me how much I wanted (as it did the last time I was there). I knew I could just stop it at $50 so it didn’t really matter. Then I noticed that gas was only $1.02, the lowest price here in a long time. I decided to go ahead with a fill because it was cheap; the bill came to just $50.68!

I was no sooner home and had everything put away than Pat and I headed out again. There was a music book that was suggested in my uke lesson last night and I wanted to pick it up (I got the last copy). We looked at some straps and asked about stands; Pat thinks he has a child’s guitar strap that might work and they didn’t have any stands. From there we stopped at the butcher shop before finally making our way home.

I’ll do a bit of ukulele practising and then see how much of my Guild recipe book I can get done before dinner. The first two chapters have been proof-read and the woman who did that said I could give her the rest and she’d do those pages as well.
