I’ve been working hard all day trying to catch up on things in my studio. I started the day by getting the last of my Valentine cards stitched and ready for the mail; I also got a parcel wrapped and ready for the mail on Monday. My projects aren’t really “finished” until I have added them to my website and my project book so I took care of that before moving on.
I was a day late but I finished this week’s 28 blocks for my Temecula Quilt-Along. I don’t make quarter-square triangles very often so I had to look up a tutorial; they aren’t difficult and you are able to make two at a time. These are small blocks and, so far, all of the blocks have been made from my scraps with the majority coming from pre-cut squares that are cut as I finish projects. At this rate though I will soon have to be cutting into more substantial chunks of fabric but I have a whole bin of “larger bits” to work from.
I needed to take a photo of a Guild display at the library today. I was all ready to go and realized I didn’t have my library card with me. Did I need it? I really didn’t want a book, but did it make sense to go without it? I stuck it in my pocket and I’m glad I did. I’m always attracted to the New Fiction shelf and I found a couple of books by authors I know and like. Since I’m already reading a 700+ page book I only picked up one; I don’t usually read two books at once but I started the new one this afternoon and I’m loving it.
When all my tasks were done for the day I did a bit of tidying up in my studio. One of the things I had to move around while cleaning was my ukulele so I picked it up and did a bit of practising. I was getting tired of just strumming the two chords and the two beats I know so I went online and found a few songs that I could play with my two chords. I don’t sing along but it was fun to do a bit of strumming to the sound of the songs as I heard them in my head!
I sandwiched my miniature project and I hope to get a start at the quilting with what is left of the afternoon; it is due at the bee on Tuesday.
