I was out and about for most of the morning. Carola and I planned a trip to the Post Office but on our way there (and after) we made quite a few stops.
First up was a stop at Safeway to pick up a few items and to check the sizes on a few of my recipe ingredients. I had three pages of lists; Carola took the ones that were found in the baking aisle and I ran around the rest of the store looking for the miscellaneous stuff. The bank is just across the street from Safeway so we made a quick stop there so I could replenish my money!
From there we were on to Walmart. Carola needed a printer cartridge and I had a couple of baking tins that I needed to get the metric sizes on. Finally we were on our way to the Post Office. We both had packages to mail away and we were the only customers in the building; quite a change from the pre- and even post-Christmas rush.
Carola wanted to stop at the wool shop and I needed to sign up for my ukulele lessons; the two stores share a parking lot so it was convenient. Yes, I’m signed up for a month of lessons; I’ll be looking at a used ukulele on Saturday and if that doesn’t work out I’ll have to buy one at the music store. I finished at the music shop before Carola so I stopped in at the wool shop just to look. I found some gorgeous new sock yarn but I resisted; I need to finish up the sock yarn I already have before purchasing new stuff. I did buy a lovely shade of cotton for part of a Valentine’s gift; three balls were under $10 so it was a deal!
I have a Guild demo tonight so I’ll be off again in a few hours. I’m on lunch duty tonight; I have some oatmeal cookies and some orange slices for sharing. The demo will show us several different “Disappearing Blocks” with a follow-up workshop weekend later in the year. I expect most of the examples they are showing are available on the web so I don’t plan to attend the workshop – I don’t need any more ideas!
