Today was a Mini Meez day and, although it is actually bigger than a mini, I took my Joy project for Show and Tell. I also got started stitching my Itty Bitty blocks together. Did I mention yesterday about doing the math to get the 3″ and 4″ rows to match? I did the math wrong because when I stitched the two rows the 4″ row was an inch longer than the 3″ row. It was an easy fix and only involved ripping (and restitching) two seams. I said my goal for next month was to have the top finished; I hope I can see well enough to do the stitching in the evening or I’ll never have it done in time. I’ve decided to replace the first block in Row 2 as the Snail’s Tail pattern doesn’t show well because of my fabric choice.
There was so much new at the bee today. Someone had donated several miniature quilt books and, after some discussion, we decided to keep them within the Mini Meez rather than share them in the Guild library. There were two challenges offered at the meeting. Our leader suggested we use a Valentine theme for next month if we were making something; I just downloaded a Valentine project from the web yesterday so I was in total agreement. Because we are working on door prizes and draw prizes for our Hands Across the Water event, I suggested the Mini Meez each contribute something for the prize table. Carola is back from Vegas (I picked her up at the airport last night) and her big – and I mean big – Show and Tell was the 1,000 Blocks book from Quiltmaker magazine. There are so many blocks in there I would love to make if only I didn’t have a million other projects started, planned and already in my head! Although I know I can borrow the book from Carola I think we’ll get one for the Guild library as well as ask the public library to order a copy. Another of our members stopped in with an interesting project and she has agreed to teach us the technique at a bee next month. No wonder I never get my own projects finished.
Last, but not least, one of the ladies was working on her Sticks and Stones blocks – the Guild workshop that didn’t work out so well for me. She was using a totally different layout so I’m back at the drawing board deciding what to do with mine.
My head is spinning with quilting ideas but I think I’ll find a knitting project for the evening.
